Lieutenant General (Retired) Mark Schwartz served with distinction for 33 years in the United States Army. Mark has over 20 years of exemplary global leadership experience, leading multi-service, multinational, and intergovernmental teams. He is driven by optimism while inspiring and empowering associates to achieve organizational objectives and their career goals.
Mark’s experiences have allowed him to demonstrate his expertise in foreign policy and strategic planning, international security, and conflict resolution. During his career, Mark served throughout the Middle East, Europe, and North Africa. He has had the opportunity to lead strategic planning and operations working with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization, the United Nations, the European Union, and the United States Agency for International Development. Mark has also worked bilaterally with multiple nations in developing their national security policies and strategy. These experiences have resulted in Mark developing lasting personal and professional relationships with a multitude of U.S. Allies and Partners.
In Mark’s last assignment in the military as the United States Security Coordinator for Israel and the Palestinian Authority, he led a multinational and interagency team responsible for U.S. security policy in developing the Palestinian Authority Security Forces. Mark served as the United States Executive Branch and Department of State, personal representative to the Palestinian Authority. He gained valuable experience in conflict resolution while working with Israel and the Palestinian Authority to enable security coordination and stability in the West Bank.
As a career Green Beret Mark has served at every echelon of Special Operations Forces, including multiple combat rotations in the Middle East and South-Central Asia.
A prominent career highlight for Mark is fostering individual growth of his subordinates. Specifically, providing opportunities for inclusion and empowerment of women within his organizations. Mark has advocated for and enabled multiple opportunities for women to advance to senior leadership within male dominated organizations.
Mark is a proud native of Colorado. He holds a BBA in Finance from Idaho State University and an MA in National Security and Strategic Studies from the U.S. Naval War College. He has earned Senior Executive certificates from the Wharton School of Business and the UNC Kenan-Flagler Business School.
