Master Sergeant (Ret.) Phil Stone
U.S. Army Special Forces Regiment.
Phil Stone served as the Vice President of the Special Forces Association Chapter 31 (XXXI) for the Dallas, Texas area and is active in the North Texas Special Forces community.
Phil is also currently working at Oracle Corporation as a Delivery Manager and Technical Architect for Oracle Utilities Global Business Unit. He has over 20 year’s military experience with the US Army Special Forces. He started his military career in the US Army in 1977 where he served as an Infantryman with the 2nd Infantry Division before volunteering for Special Forces as a Weapons Sergeant in 1979. Phil was a member of 3rd Bn, 10th SFG(A) and participated in numerous Joint Controlled Exercise Training operations throughout Europe in the early ‘80’s.
In ’84, Phil was part of a Mobile Training Team to Beirut, Lebanon to train, equip and form a National Lebanese Ranger Battalion. Phil left active duty in ’86 to pursue a bachelor’s degree and ended up reenlisting with the 12th Special Forces (Reserve) and then later on transferring to the 19th SF (National Guard) to continue his service. While in the Army Special Forces, he successfully completed numerous military schools including Ranger, HALO Jumpmaster (High Altitude Low Opening), SCUBA, Special Operations Training and Special Forces Advanced Urban Combat as well as many others.
Phil is qualified in several SF specialties; Weapons, Engineering, Communications, Operations and Intelligence. He is a veteran of several conflicts spanning over 3 decades, including a tour of duty in Afghanistan before his retirement in 2004. His awards are too numerous to list all of them but, include the Combat Infantryman’s badge, Bronze Star, Meritorious Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal (2nd Award), Army Achievement Medal, Good Conduct Medal (2nd Award) HALO Jumpmaster, Master Parachutist, Combat Diver, Special Forces tab, Ranger tab and Physical Fitness Badge.
Phil has a Bachelor’s of Business Administration Degree from the University of Texas at Arlington with a concentration in Information Systems.
