Lieutenant Colonel (Ret) Kirk Windmueller graduated the Special Forces Qualification Course in 2001 and was assigned to 3rd Battalion, 10th Special Forces Group (Airborne) at Fort Carson, Colorado, with deployments to Kosovo in support of Operation JOINT GUARDIAN and Iraq in support of Operation IRAQI FREEDOM.
Subsequent assignments included the U.S. Army John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School (Special Forces Doctrine), 4th Battalion, 1st Special Warfare Training Group (Company Commander, Battalion XO and Commander of the Allied Special Forces Qualification Course).
In 2010, he served at Combined Forces Special Operation Component Command-Afghanistan (CFSOCC-A) in support of Operation ENDURING FREEDOM, served as an Army Research Fellow at the RAND Corporation (Arroyo Center) in Santa Monica, California, was the Deputy Chief for Combat Developments, G8, at U.S. Army Special Operations Command, and a Strategic Planner, J5, Joint Special Operations Command before retiring from active duty in 2018.
He holds a Bachelors of Science in Biology from The Citadel, and a Masters of Science (with Distinction) in Defense Analysis from the Naval Postgraduate School.
Kirk is a Senior Manager at Avantus Federal and lives in Boone, NC, with his wife and 3 kids.
